Some people make characters just to beat the snot out of
the other PCs, some build them to annoy the Game Master, and some are built for
some other reason entirely. As for myself, I just enjoy seeing the look on
the other PCs faces when the character whips out something they wish they had
thought of first!
Something to keep in mind as you read through here, is the fact that I am a
lover of AMBER, and I would greatly appreciate hearing your suggestions and
other Ideas you think would benefit other people like yourself. I also
want to hear from you if you've used any of my ideas in some form or another,
I'm just interested in seeing how many people got some use out of this page.

 | Trump Foam
 | Value - 14pts. |

 | 4pts. - Powered by Trump |
 | 10Pts. - Confer Power |
|
 | Description -
You're walking through castle amber one day, when Benedict walks up to you
and tells you that he needs a trump of your brother. Not wanting to give
him your copy, you simply make a 5 minute sketch of your brother, and spray it
with the foam, and wipe off the excess thinking of your brother. When it
is fully dry, you hand him the Rough looking, but working trump of your
brother and tell him to have a nice day. Later that day, Random, the
King, mentions that he wishes he had a watch that always kept Amber time
for when he was away. You take a two watches, one to be left here in
amber, and the other to be worn about, and spray the second one with foam, and
wipe it off, thinking about the watch to be left here. When it's dry,
you hand him the watches, and tell him which to leave and which to carry.

 | Value - 30 Pts. |
 | Distribution -
 | 1pt. - Psychic Sense |
 | 1pt. - Rack A Spell |
 | 3pts. - Psychically Linked |
 | X6 - Ubiquitous to Shadow |
|
 | Description - |
|
When you have an unlimited number of glass coins, all of which have
psychic sense and are psychically linked, you've got a very useful tool.
When you add the ability to put a teleportation spell into it, you've got
one of the best and fastest methods of magical shadow travel going!
Imagine yourself in shadow, you're looking for someplace quiet. You
pull a coin out of a pocket you know has coins with a certain spell racked
into them, shadow sight. You use the shadow sight spell through your
coin it was racked into, to look around at the surrounding shadows that have
your coins lying in them. Once you've found the one you want and have
noted it's location, you simply reach into another pocket you know to
contain coins with teleportation spells racked into them, you use that
spell, to take yourself to the coin you spotted in the nearby shadow.
You've just jumped a reasonable amount of shadow, and with a very discrete
and commonplace power.
For those with a form of power sight, simply exclude the shadow sight
spell, and use the power sight to find the coin you want. Also very
good for tracking down those "hard to get a hold of" type people, simply
give them a hand full of your coins with racked spells, and teach them how
to use them. They have a ball with their new form of travel, and you
can get to them any time you need to.
 | Ultimate Trump Deck
 | Value - 6 Pts. |
 | Distribution -
 | 1pt. - Contains A Trump Image |
 | 1pt. - Psychic Sense |
 | X3 - Horde Quantity |
|
 | Description -
Having 50 or so cards that contain a trump image and have psychic
sensitivity doesn't exactly sound like much, but when the trump image is of
your trump receptive pet, you can gain an instant contact with it from a
single touch of a card!
There you are, sitting in your study in amber reading a book, when you
realize that your uncle Gerard is thinking about talking to you. You
can almost hear him calling your name, but he sounds too far off to
understand. You reach into your deck and pull out his likeness, and
without even looking at the card, you touch the picture. All at once,
he appears before you in all his might, he looks startled, and mentions that
he's been trying to "call" you for 20 minutes (the normal amount of time for
where he is to amber). He remarks that it became clear entirely too
fast to have been a normal trump and asks if that was your doing.
Regardless of your answer or whether he shows it or not, Gerard will respect you
a little more.
For those characters with advanced trump abilities, there are a plethora
of other options. You could draw a trump of a spinning metal disk that
seems to be heading toward you at a high rate of speed, then point the card
at your door, and touch the edge of the picture. Sending a spinning
metal disk through your door and into the wall of your closet, now it's time
to go shopping for some new clothes. You could draw a trump of your
clothes all clean and neatly pressed, with a towel, bar of soap, mirror,
razor, and aftershave laying on top of them. Now when you're in the
middle of the woods, at camp that night, you can go take a bath in the
stream quickly tap the card, and bathe with your favorite soap, shave, and
when you walk back to camp, you look like a million bucks!

Shadows
 | Desco
 | Value - 4pts. |
 | Distribution -
 | 2pts. - Shadow of the Realm |
 | 1pt. - Control of contents |
 | 1pt. - Communication Barrier |
|
 | Description -
You step through the trump you found on Dworkin's Desk, and look around
at a barren and desolate place of hard cracked dirt and hills. As you
walk, you see a large cave entrance in a nearby hill, with Bear-people
coming out of it. You can tell by their uniforms, that they're either
guards or military, and knowing enough about magic and shadow powers to tell that their
weapons would hurt if they got you, so you go with them. After a lengthy
walk down through a series of caves leading deep into the planet, you sense magical power at use,
lots of magical powers! You know that it's just
shadow magic, but it seems awfully complex and powerful for shadow people. When you
reach the meeting chamber of sorts, you can see why the magic is so complex.
As you gaze around the 16 sided room, from what you can see through the glass, 16
distinctly different groups of magic users, creating spells and conjurations
of types ranging from benign
travel magic to defensive magic to offensive magic and racked items, all concentrating
their powers into a side of the 16 sided gem adorned atop a mace in the ruler's hand.
It occurs to you that having the sorcerers of your shadow writing and
casting spells for you might be an awfully handy service to have around. Just as your eyes reach the stone again, you hear the ruler say something
that sounds like "not good enough!" a bolt of energy leaps from the stone to
the person on their knees before her, and he's dust. A thought crosses
you mind as you watch the particles gather on the floor, "Did I bring my sword?
and would it do me any good if I did?"

 | 2pts. - Double Damage |
 | X4 - Shadow Wide |
 | 1pt. - Personal Shadow - Ulvek |
|
 | Description -
Lets say you're a warrior, and you're going to be doing battle with your
enemy, you're going to need an army. Now, you've already got an army,
but they need some thing to fight with. So, you stop by Ulvek on your
way to the battle, you have your men collect all the rocks they can find,
and you smelt them into liquid and fashion them into weapons. This is very
easy to do, since the rocks are soft and the metal form isn't much better,
but once they're tempered in the yellow oil that is a byproduct of your
smelting process, the metal turns a fiery orange and makes for a vicious
blade. And once again, you're on your way to do battle, and WIN!

Are you tired of people just walking through your mind as if it were a
library? If so, then this is just what you need! First, the
Amulet, is simply designed to change colors when the person wearing it is
receiving a mind contact. Then comes the fun part! The Shelf Dragon,
is a real dragon, standing 12 inches tall and 8 inches around breathing fire
and having nasty teeth and claws. His entire purpose, is to see the
amulet change colors, and Seek out the originator of the mind contact you're
receiving. This would make the people calling you a little more cautious
when trying to invade your mind. At least after the first time they
have their eyes chewed out, or simply get a "Hot Foot" from the dragon.
Even if they succeed in vesting your dragon, they're going to have to get
out of your head long enough to do it, leaving you about your wits and able
to do something else.

0 Point Artifacts
 |
A firearm in amber? (well, not exactly)
 |
Physical Characteristics -
Any size you want, but I prefer what I call the "Hold Out"; a 7
inch long and 4 inch tall 1 inch wide pistol. It's made of a hard, light
metal with only 3 moving and 6 parts total. Requires a Spring or a stretchable
band.
|
 |
How it works -
Take a metal tube that's closed on one end, a barbed metal bolt,
a fore grip from a shotgun, a STRONG spring, a trigger, and a star shaped metal
disc. When you put them together, you end up with what loosely resembles a
pistol. Now something to keep in mind, you will not be able to reload and
reuse this weapon. Here's why: 1 - the tension on the spring has to be
incredibly hard in order to do any damage, so it has to be cocked with a vise. 2
- In order to keep the size and weight as low as possible, there is not a cocking
mechanism attached.
|
 |
Final Result -
A small lightweight projectile weapon that works in Amber!
Very useful if no one knows about it, cause let's face it, even if your opponent
has got the advantage in warfare, the element of surprise goes a long way.
|
|
 |
Ball of clay! (doesn't sound like much)
 |
Physical Characteristics -
A small amount of oil clay, maybe 2 inches square.
|
 |
How it works -
First things first, you can use it to make an impression of a
key, to later make your own. If you're in a dark place, since it's got oil
in it, you can rub it onto a piece of cloth to make a torch.
|
 |
Final Result -
A nice item to have on you for that tight spot you might get
into. The possibilities are almost endless, hampered only by your
imagination... and the game master!
